Sitting in front of a computer is more challenging than it’s ever been. It’s way too easy to get lost in a sea of distractions. We can fool ourselves into thinking we are being productive by checking our emails, or we can be more blatant and kick back with an episode of The Walking Dead or Orange is the New Black on Netflix, so here is some tips to get on How To Organize Your Life.

For me, in order to stay focused and on track, it’s real important to follow a few simple guidelines that I established for myself before I allow myself to wallow away in unproductivity.

In no way, shape or form am I an expert in this category. I am simply stating what works for me (sometimes lol). Some simple yet effective ways to be more productive and get things done are:

Keep Lists

Without seeing it in writing, it’s way to easy for me to forget what needs to be done.

Create Deadlines

An open ended deadline is a sure fire way to keep pushing tasks off. Give yourself a definitive deadline to accomplish the essentials. By making it vague, you are minimizing the importance and priority of what you need to accomplish!


Know which tasks are most important. I make sure to complete revenue generating tasks before I do my book keeping or filing. It’s too easy to get caught up in the things you enjoy doing, versus the things you MUST do.

Shut Social Media

Easier said than done, I know. But unless I am setting up ad campaigns on FB, I really try to log out or else…

Create a Routine

I try and only check my email two or three times a day. Otherwise I am in there way too often. I once learned that by opening other people’s email, you are following their agenda and priorities and not your own.

Take a Break

It’s OK to step away from the computer. Get a little fresh air. Re-assess your accomplishments and unfinished business,

Speak to an Adult

Sounds silly, but there can be entire days where I am not engaging any adults. I work from home, and have twin 4 year old girls. Real easy for the brain to turn to mush.

Eat Healthy Snacks

the body needs nourishment and energy. Try and feed it somewhat nutritious food.


Get the blood flowing. Stretch. Move around. Obvious.
